so i've gotten some comments about how i haven't put an actual painting up in a while.

i swear...i'm still a painter!

i've been playing with making jewelry the last few weeks, and am having sooooo much fun doing it, it's hard to put down. it's also easier to drag out the stuff to make a quick ring than it is to paint when you've got a housefull of kittens. for a while, we were rehabbing and taming feral kittens. they were tremendous fun, and tremedous work that sort of precluded any creative pursuits. now we're down to one, who we've decided to keep. she helps me make all of the jewelry by chewing on the wire, chewing on the mandrel, grabbing the pliars, etc. etc. then, at some point, she lays across the whole endeavor and falls asleep. she's way too much in my face at the moment to think about her doing that with a palette full of paint, or a wet brush. when she's bigger and not such a nuisance it will be easier.

but, for the time being, i'm going to do jewelry. that, and i've discovered that it's FINALLY something can make that people will buy reliably! $250 for a painting...few and far between. $25 for a ring...no problem. i'm working on making at least one ring a night, trying to both get better and to build a nice inventory for a christmas fair show. wish me luck!
